- Brian Carpenter – Executive Chairman, Australia and New Zealand

Brian’s career in insurance broking began 35 years ago in London. He specialised in the placement of non-marine business in the Lloyd’s and European markets. In Australia, he continued in this area and has been involved with major accounts in mining, oil and gas, construction and manufacturing industries.
Brian joined JLT in 1987 as Chief Executive Western Australia before becoming Managing Director – Retail in 1996.
In 2005, he was appointed Chief Executive of JLT Asia Pacific Executive Committee with responsibility for the JLT Group office network in Asia, Australia and New Zealand and in 2006, he was appointed to the Board of Jardine Lloyd Thompson plc in London.
Brian oversees retail operations across all territories and countries in the Asia Pacific region. As a board member of Jardine Lloyd Thompson plc., he has responsibility for the strategic direction of the company.

- Leo Demer – Chief Executive Officer – Australia and New Zealand

Leo commenced employment with Jardine Australian Insurance Brokers (later to become Jardine Lloyd Thompson) in March 1985 to establish a specialised Local Government Division in New South Wales.
In 2000 Leo was appointed Managing Director of the Risk Services Division of Jardine Lloyd Thompson. This division incorporates the Australia wide Local Government operations which represents around 98% of all councils in the country.
Leo was appointed Managing Director of the Australian and New Zealand businesses in January 2008 and continues in that role as CEO of the consolidated Australian and New Zealand operations.
In addition to being a member of the New South Wales Bar, Leo is a Qualified Practicing Insurance Broker, Fellow of the National Insurance Brokers Association and is accredited under the new Financial Services legislation.

- Ray Andrew – Executive Chairman, New Zealand
Ray commenced his insurance broking career in Auckland, New Zealand 35 years ago. Ray has had broking experience in both the marine and non-marine markets. He has handled major accounts in a number of sectors including, manufacturing, Local Government, hospitality and the shipping and fishing industries. Ray joined a broking company in New Zealand in 1971 which was subsequently acquired by JLT. Ray was appointed as Managing Director of JLT New Zealand in 1996.
Ray has general management responsibility for JLT New Zealand operations, business development and corporate services.

- Stephen Ball – Managing Director, Affinity

Steve began his insurance career over 35 years ago and has worked in Australia, the UK and the Middle East. He has been a senior Broker in the JLT NSW team since 1982 and has been active in Marketing and New Business Developement as well as Branch Management.
Steve now leads our national Affinity team which focuses on the unique needs of occupational groups, specialised bulk placements as well as trade and sporting associations.

- Bruno Codemo – Chief Financial Officer

Bruno joined JLTA in 1985 and was appointed Finance Director in 1990. Previously, he was a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in Australia and the UK.
Bruno is responsible for Jardine Lloyd Thompson Australia’s finance and accounting functions including finance reporting and compliance with accounting and taxation legislation. He is also responsible for treasury and company secretarial requirements.

- Ian Haggard – Chief Information Officer

Ian has worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years in Southern Africa and Australia and has held a range of underwriting, broking and accounting positions. He was instrumental in the development of insurance broking systems in Australia and now focuses on the enhancement of business systems and processes.
Ian is responsible for the development and delivery of information technology systems and infrastructure in Asia and Australia.

Hank joined JLT in 1998 and has been in the insurance industry in Australia for 20 years as a broker and underwriter. He has worked in every state in Australia either as a State Manager or Sales Manager. Before joining JLT he was Operations Manager with the FAI Insurance Group.
Hank is responsible for the management of JLT operational issues in Australia. In addition, he is responsible for small to medium and domestic businesses.

For more than 19 years, André has provided specialist insurance broking, risk consulting and claims services to corporations and firms from a wide range of industries. He has particular experience in mergers, acquisitions and capital raising.
André holds postgraduate qualifications in law and business administration in addition to his formal insurance qualifications.
He also practiced as a solicitor, specialising in professional and public liability before entering the insurance industry.
Presently, André is the Managing Director of Echelon Australia, our consulting company, and the Chairman of ProEx, the segment which specialises in PI and D&O insurance, in Australia and New Zealand.

- Stephen Penfold – Managing Director, Risk Services

Stephen has worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years in underwriting, client service and insurance broking roles. Prior to joining JLT in 1994 he held state and national underwriting management positions with GIO Australia.
Stephen is Managing Director of the Risk Services division which specialises in providing insurance broking services and self insurance schemes for Australian Local Government & Government entities. He is also the General Manager of Echelon Australia which provides consultancy services across Australia in the areas of Claims Management, Loss Adjusting, Risk Management and WorkCare services.

Steve has over 28 years of experience in managing complex accounts for leading multinationals and corporations in Australia. His areas of expertise include construction, mining and major corporate. In 1986, he joined JLT and has played a pivotal role in developing JLT corporate business, having led major projects in Indonesia and Australia before holding his current position as Executive Director of JLT Western Australia.
Steve is responsible for business development, finance and other matters related to JLT Western Australia’s operations.

Richard’s career in the insurance industry spans 30 years working in the Melbourne, Brisbane and London markets. A recognised industry leader in his field, Richard has led large infrastructure, government, energy and mining projects and operational programme placements. His experience includes broking and consulting for large Australian and international entities, across a broad range of disciplines, including feasibility studies for and management of offshore captives and sophisticated risk financing programmes. Richard is a sought after speaker at national conferences and seminars.
Richard leads one of the best Natural Resources & Construction(NRC) broking teams in Australia. He is responsible for business development and all aspects of JLT NRC operations.
