ACE Insurance Limited.

What is the Period of Insurance?

1st August 2009 at 4.00pm Local Standard Time to 1st August 2010 at 4.00pm Local Standard Time.

What is the Policy Number?

The policy number is 02PO014429.

Who is the Insured?

The ATA is the sole insured under the policy, however Category 1 & 2 Covered persons (as defined below) can access the cover benefits by submitting their completed application form and annual access fee to JLT.

Who is a Covered person under this policy?

  1. Full Financial Members of the ATA who are under the age of 75 years (Category 1); and
  2. Licensed Racehorse Trainers who are not members of the ATA, under the age of 75 years (Category 2);

Where their individual application has been completed and submitted, together with their access fee, to JLT.

Who can make a claim?

A claim can be made by any Category 1 or 2 Covered person once access to the policy is granted.

What does this policy cover me for?

In relation to an accidental covered Injury which results in one of the covered Events occurring within 12 months of sustaining the injury, a Category 1 or 2 Covered person is able to claim for one only of the following:

  1. Routine Duties weekly benefit, for up to 26 weeks, after application of the Excess
  2. Inability to carry out usual income earning occupation weekly benefit, for up to 26 weeks, after application of the Excess
  3. Injury resulting in fractured bones lump sum benefit

What are the policy sums insured/benefit levels I can claim?

These are variable based on the category of Covered person and type of event, so please refer to the policy for this information.

Where am I covered (Geographic Locations)?

24 hours per day, 7 Days a Week, Anywhere in the World.

Am I limited to cover for events which result from my thoroughbred racehorse training activities only?

No, cover extends beyond the training activities, to include your daily route activities. For example, this cover extends to injuries sustained whilst gardening, during leisure activities, whilst holidaying, household duties or even performing farming chores. Refer to the policy for a full description of covered activities.

Is there an Excess applicable to any claim for benefits?

Yes, there is no benefit payable for the first seven (7) days following an injury which gives rise to a claim for (a) Routine Duties weekly benefit or (b) Inability to carry out usual income earning occupation weekly benefit.

No excess applies to (c) Injury resulting in fractured bones lump sum benefit.

What are some of the major Exclusions applicable to this Policy?

The policy will not provide cover in certain circumstances. For example, cover will not apply where the Covered person sustains loss, damage, liability or injury which:

  1. results from a Covered person participating in professional sport of any kind, excluding the activities associated with licensed thoroughbred racehorse training.
  2. is the result of intentional self-injury, suicide or any illegal or criminal act;
  3. results from war, invasion or civil war;
  4. results from or is a complication with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV);
  5. is an expense or payment which would constitute “health insurance business” as defined in the National Health Act, 1953 (Cth)
  6. results from pregnancy or child birth, except for unexpected medical complications or emergencies arising there from
  7. is the result of an illness
